How scary is this ride in person?

I remember when this ride was a haunted house. I was always too scared to go in Frankenstein’s Castle, so I’d go on this instead. There used to be a semi truck facade at the end of the ride that would blare its horn for one last scare. Good times!

Kiddie Coaster 1 looks too intense for me!

The only thing that has ever bothered me with this park is the almost themed rides. There are so many places where with some more work you could really take it over the top. You could build this rides theme out with foam concrete and really make it feel like an underground coal mine. But it feels a little cheesy. The haunted house is the same way. As is the log flume. There is a certain slight lack to the theme and where it is heavy it sort of looks like kids did it. Knoebels has my heart for life. But they really need to work on their immersion.

Something that most people don't know about this ride is that it uses many elements from a dark ride which used to be there: Superstition Mountain. For example, the train at the end used to be one of the first things seen in the original Superstition Mountain. It was triggered at the same point it gets triggered at on the coaster, scaring people further into the ride.

I know I’m super late. I want to go here, to this exact park, in Illinois, for my birthday. It’s in 4 days, probably won’t go the day of my birthday, maybe that week. This probably won’t get answered by the time I go. I will be turning 15. These videos make it seem like the ride isn’t scary at all. I’m not a huge thrill seeker, I’m scared of roller coasters, yet I can do big water slides and I can barley swim. The last time I was at six flags was when I was 8 or 9. I remember going on the Whizzer, which wasn’t scary at all. I was just wondering if there are any roller coasters, besides the whizzer that would be a good first roller coaster? I’m afraid of heights, sometimes get motion sick. I’ve never been on anything that goes upside down, so I might pass out. Any recommendations would be appreciated. TL;DR- I’m wondering if there is any roller coaster at Great America that a 15 year old who is afraid of roller coasters, besides the Whizzer that would be a good first step.

I am so glad I found this video. I used to ride this every summer when it was the Golden Nugget in Wildwood. Watching this, I could almost feel as though I was back riding it with my sister, laughing away, with my mom waiting for us outside. Begging to ride it one more time. Then heading over to the Keystone Kops. Good memories!

I feel like this ride is underrated by enthusiasts. The theming and airtime is pretty good.
